Alcoholism.
Alcohol -- one product 79% of teens and adults use to enable them to "forget their problems, have a "good time" or simply because they just want to experience being drunk and developing the "good feeling". It is the drug most often used by 12- to 17-year-olds, with more than four million adolescents drinking alcohol in any month. Okay—why do people really drink alcohol? A lot of research has been done to find and explore the reason/s why people drink alcohol. From one accurate research conducted in the Netherlands among 15 to 25 year-olds, the following answers came up, 71 percent said, “To be more social” and 51 percent said, “They like the taste”. I would have to disagree with those the taste is absolutely horrible, although alcohol puts you at ease to a certain extent, it should not be the answer to being able to socialize easier. Socializing should be a natural talent, and should not have to be forced, or feared. Alcohol is risky when you need more to feel good. If you cannot do that anymore on your own, and you use the alcohol for it, at a certain point you run the risk of starting to drink more and more each time to still feel the effects. This can be the beginning of an addiction. If you drink to feel good, you should ask yourself if you can also feel at ease without alcohol.
Those who often drink too much run a high risk of suffering physical damage. It is mainly the short term physical change that most Americans drink for—numbing, decrease in memory, judging situation and reduction in pain—although it is not recognized it is that alcohol level, in which most people settle for.
Everyone knows that being able to get loud and rowdy is a lot of fun, but be a responsible drinker, because you can hurt yourself as easy as you can hurt other around you.

So many people drink alcohol and do not know the side affects that can cause them. By drinking a lot you are at high risk of having health problems. Not only could they have health problems but they can also harm others while under the influence. People that drink to be drunk could put other people in danger by hitting them or killing them. People that get drunk are not aware of their actions. Also, drinking can cause you to gain weight like some people say “it’s my beer belly”. You make fun of it and also of others and do not realize how bad it is when you are drinking. People have to be aware of how much they drink and how many times a week they drink. They need to manage their drinking in order not have any health problems. It is ok if you drink when it is a holiday or you are celebrating something special. It is never okay to drink everyday more than once a day. People, who drink like this usually have serious problems and want to forget about them by drinking. Be sure to always drink responsible.
ReplyDeleteDrinking can be an addiction at times when you constantly consume it and start drinking it almost about every single week. But when someone is a responsible drinker, I do not see any problem with it if you know how to control and limit yourself. When I first started drinking, I would try to drink my alcohol fast so I can get that feeling how you mentioned. I feel like if I am at a party and I do not drink I am boring because no matter if I try to force myself to dance being sober I cannot really feel the music and get into the vibe. One time though, I did have a bad experience and ever since that I watch how much I drink and make sure I do not get carried away. Some people really do not learn until something happens. Alcohol is made to make you light headed, therefore I believe that is why people drink. When you feel light headed, you loosen up and everything around you becomes fun and you get into the mood. It is all the affect of alcohol. I do not believe that the affects of alcohol is not just in an individual’s mind. It is the way it is made to make you feel.

Okay TWO things stuck out!!!! the fact that kids as young as 12 are within the range of drinkers and that 51% said they actually like the taste!?!?!? I can see how some might like the taste of wine with a nice dinner but hard alcohol?!I have a feeling that the 51%, like social drinkers, cared what others thought and LIED!It is kind of interesting to think that we "pollute" our bodies with this stuff that does not even taste good, for social purposes!i was really surprised by the stats that you gave especially that kids as young as 12 are drinking!!! My brothers are ten and i can not even imagine they would be ready to drink in two years! oh my! haha.great article :)
